If you want to read a book full of forbidden romance and adventure,
I strongly suggest reading The Song of Achilles. In the book, you
follow the narrator, Patroclus, who is an outcast prince and has been thrown out into a different land where he meets the handsome Achilles. He is picked as Achilles' companion and he joins him when Achilles goes to train with the great Chiron. They fall in love and are both called to go fight to rescue Helen from Troy. A prophecy begins to tear them apart and causes deaths and despair. Achilles' pride leads to Patroclus' death and that leads to Achilles' death due to his need for revenge. They join each other at last in the underworld. I enjoyed this book because of the twist it put to a classic story. It gave a backstory to Patroclus who we did not know much about from The Iliad. The hidden romance and the unwanted war created tension between characters and makes you emotionally invested in the story. I highly suggest reading this is you are looking for a fun, romantic book to read.--Emma Himes, Class of 2017
